Las Cruces Public Schools Thanks Jardín de los Niños for Their Partnership and Commitment to Families

During this week’s Board of Education meeting, Las Cruces Public Schools had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Michelle Adames, CEO of Jardín de los Niños, along with members of her leadership team — Amber Sedillo, Director of Development & Community Engagement; Alma Ketcherside, Director of Family Services; and Sandra Lara, Director of Children’s Services.

Dr. Adames and her team joined Board President Erica Saunders and Board President-elect Gena Bermudez to share their gratitude for the strong partnership between LCPS and Jardín de los Niños. Dr. Adames presented a formal thank-you to the LCPS School Board for our collaboration this summer, and to Alameda Elementary Principal Ms. Morales for opening her school’s doors to host Jardín de los Niños during their roof renovation.

We at LCPS are equally grateful for the partnership, compassion, and dedication that Jardín de los Niños brings to our shared mission of serving the children and families of Las Cruces. Because of this collaboration, vital early childhood services continued uninterrupted, ensuring that students and families could continue to learn, grow, and thrive.

Thank you, Jardín de los Niños, for your unwavering commitment to our community and for being such a valued partner in supporting children and families across Las Cruces.

Las Cruces City Council recognized the Veterans Day Poster Contest winners.

Superintendent Ruiz joined the student finalists, and City Council, and committee led by Veterans Day Parade Chairman Bill Hawkins.

The Parade takes place 11 a.m. on November 8, 2025.

Students created posters to advertise the date, time and location of the parade and it helped them learn about the role of veterans of our country.

Middle school students created posters with the theme of "Honoring our Future Leaders."
About 30 submissions were evaluated. The final six were recognized in Council.

The winning poster was created by Serenity Madrid, 7th grader from Mr. Valdez's class at Mesa Middle school. She will have further recognition in the parade and has won a $50 prize.

A big congratulations to all of our finalists!!
